Microdermabrasion is an advanced facial treatment that intensely exfoliates and resurfaces the skin by buffing away the top layer. It is the leading skincare treatment in the UK for complete skin rejuvenation and improves skin tone, texture and a whole range of other skin concerns.
Microdermabrasion uses vacuum suction to maintain contact with the skin whilst the diamond tips (the method I use over crystals) smooth and buff the skin's surface. The treatment isn’t invasive and is safe and suitable for most skin types and achieves amazing results revealing healthier looking skin from the first treatment.
The dual action from the treatment resurfaces the skin and stimulates blood flow, encouraging rejuvenation and the production of collagen and elastin (hello plump skin!) and allows better absorption of skincare products (meaning better results).
During treatment you’ll feel completely relaxed and its not uncomfortable at all! It’s widely considered the most popular non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment and can treat a range of skin concerns including:

What To Expect During Treatment
What does it feel like?
Microdermabrasion is not uncomfortable at all. It can feel slightly scratchy, almost like being rubbed by fine sandpaper, and the machine is loud to provide the suction for the vacuum. However the treatment itself is very relaxing with a satisfying feeling of feeling hoovered, buffed and polished to leave clean and glowing skin.
Express Facial - 25 minutes
During the express facial, you will be on the beauty couch under blankets like a usual facial.
We will start the treatment with a double cleanse to remove and makeup, dirt and oils from the skin to ensure its clean and dry before the treatment.
A diamond tipped wand will then be used with various heads and suction levels over the skin. Dead skin will be buffed away and the vacuum will remove debris, delivering all the benefits mentioned above!
Depending on your concerns we will then focus on problem areas with various diamond tipped heads.
Following the microdermabrasion, a moisturiser will be applied to rehydrate the skin and you’re good to go!
Full Facial - 50 minutes
The full facial follows the first steps of the express facial - with an added relaxation and targeted approach following the microdermabrasion. This is the perfect addition as mentioned earlier microdermabrasion will allow better product absorption so worth making the most of!
A tailored mask (or masks if areas require different treatments) is applied and a décolletage, upper shoulder, neck, face and scalp massage is performed to relieve tension.
On removal of the mask, serums are applied to rehydrate and target skin concerns and finished with a hydrating moisturiser to rebalance skin.
FAQ’s
‘Is it the thing with the scalpel?’
No! Microdermabrasion can sometimes be confused with dermaplaning. Dermaplaning uses a scalpel to scrape the top level of the skin and fine hairs away. Both treatments bring worthwhile benefits, particularly for improving texture without removing too much of your skin’s natural oils. Microdermabrasion is usually preferred.
Are there side effects or ‘down-time’?
Skin may feel tight and slightly red - but with good aftercare side effects usually subside within 24 hours.
Are results immediate?
Yes! However regular maintenance or a course can help achieve more consistent or dramatic results.
Aftercare
Keep your skin moisturised to aid hydration and maintain a regular skincare routine at home. This will be discussed at your appointment.
USE SPF! This is super important to protect your skin daily and even more so after microdermabrasion as your skin will be more sensitive.
Avoid heavy makeup for at least 12 hours. For 24 hours no swimming, facial waxing or fake tan!
Avoid saunas, excessive heat, sun beds or sun exposure for 48 hours - along with fillers/botox.
