A relaxing a de-stressing treatment with the cooling jade stone traditionally believed to bring peace, opportunity and luck. Combined with the skincare benefits of a tailored facial specific to your skin type and concerns this facial is the perfect mix of results, relaxation and restoring well-being.

What Is Gua Sha?

The Gua Sha is a massage tool that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for many years. Its typically a curved, heart shaped on one end, flat stone made to contour the face, neck and body.
’Gua Sha’ means ‘to scrape the disease’ (which sounds pretty extreme!) We use it to ‘scrape’ and stretch the skin and facial muscles to release toxins, stimulate circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage. Used alongside the jade roller in this facial it provides a deeper massage.

What Is Jade Rolling?

The jade roller is also a Chinese medicine tool used for its virtues to the skin. The stones are rolled across the skin to stimulate circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage. The cool stones relax the muscles after the Gua Sha, and calms and depuff’s skin.

What To Expect During Treatment

What does it feel like?
The Gua Sha and roller can feel cool on the skin and gives firm, deep movements in the facial massage. The massage itself is deeply relaxing and these are used as tools during the massage.

During the facial, you will be on the beauty couch under blankets.
We will start the treatment with a double cleanse to remove and makeup, dirt and oils from the skin to ensure its clean and dry before the treatment. I assess your skin during this stage and along with your comments the facial is then tailored around your skin’s needs and your concerns. Typically you can expect an exfoliation, mask, massage, serums and moisturiser.

During the décolletage, upper shoulder, neck, face and scalp massage the Gua Sha & Roller will be used with light to medium pressure.

FAQ’s

‘Is it uncomfortable?’

Not at all! It can feel cooling and firm when the stone first contacts the skin but its deeply relaxing after that. The stones are used with oil to help the tools glide along your skin.

Are there side effects or ‘down-time’?

Skin may feel tight and slightly red - but with good aftercare side effects usually subside within 24 hours.

Are results immediate?

Regular maintenance or a course can help achieve more consistent results as well as following home aftercare.
